Heard of a cool new tech gadget or innovation? Post a link here.
This one is a logical extension of biometrics and the need to secure portable data (not much of a 'gee-whiz' factor for this stuff these days but a usefull new tool nevertheless):
Quote: |
The fingerprint sensor authenticates a user's identity and then gives the user access to the hidden secure partition. |

Now THIS one is exciting! Is this the future of all pens? Hope so...
Digital Pen: It's basically a pen loaded with electronics that records your pen strokes and stores it for up load or uploads it wirelessly to your pc.
No more re-typing your notes from that meeting, that lecture, that phone number on the napkin in the diner...

the pen is definitely a step in the right direction, but handwriting recogniton software is still far from perfect.
a little off-topic but what futuristic movie had the most believable innovations/gadgets in your opinion?
i though Minority Report with it's eye scanning and computer-controlled highways intelligent and believable. Also the way that advertising was directed and focused at the individual, that is something we are seeing even now...
how long until there are national fingerprint/ eye databases even for non-criminals? Big brother is watching.... |

"Electronic paper"- basically a flexible, interactive tablet PC- write on it, roll it up when not in use...
like the things they used as maps in "Red Planet" (I think that was the name- the one with Val Kilmer and Terrance Stamp).
Oh yeah, plus everything you saw in THX 1138
[I'm scheduled to have a bar code tattoed on the back of my neck tomorrow] |

Only problem is that the av400 series isn't in Korea yet and the av300 series are priced ridiculously high. |

The av300 had flaws and isn't worth buying. Apparently the av400 has made a lot of improvements. I doubt the av400 is in a Canada yet either, but around Xmas time...
If I were in the US, I'd get myself a free Ipod before it's too late:

or a free flat screen:

Not a scam but a marketing experiment.
US residents only. |

There are a grand total of two internet outlets in Canada sell Archos PMP's.
Anyways, check out the upcoming AV500 release... they have added a better OS, better video resolution, PDA enhancements, and a carry-ver from the AV420 of the detachable battery pack. The only problem is their Macrovision copy protection which will only allow you to copy at the lowest resolution from Macrovision compliant DVD players.
