If you want the NIGHTMARE of your life...then this is the position for you!!!
You will hate korea and koreans if you work for either one of these schools. It will leave a bad taste in your mouth.
Many teachers have found out the hard way over the years...and many just don't heed the advice offered on this board.
Not only are the split shifts a burnout, housing is terrible, the working hours are terrible, awful!
Both places are posted on this site and others looking for someone to take the bait.
I know a few teachers who worked at both places and the HATED it. Three left early.
BCM offers 5 days of vacation only! A fool would agree to that!
Pay is low. LOW! They say "Jeju is cheaper to live then Seoul!" Wrong answer! Schools in Jeju charged the same amount of tutition as schools in Seoul! So... if it's cheaper to live in Jeju, why not lower the tutition???
The Offictel (housing) will run you around 160.000 a month! Airfare is also going up so when you want to leave Jeju, it'll cost you almost 180.000 for a round trip ticket from Seoul.
Most teachers are miserable at both schools. Korean teachers are really treated badly also! Bad pay, crazy hours...
Both schools go through teachers often.
BCM states they "they can negotiate other conditions!"
Just try it!
I have no ax to grind...I just know to many people who have hated both places after working there.
If you hang out at the "foreigner places," then you already know about these businesses.
BCM does not tell you about the split shifts until you sign the contract.
Material used is outdated, class schedules change often...you'll be miserable about many other things that would take a lot of time to post about.
Three hakwons in Jeju are a no-no; these two plus Sisa in Jeju City.
It's not the schools that are bad, it's the owners. They only care about money and how much they can make from slaving teachers.
They do not care about quality education. If they did, the pay would be better, conditions would be better, class hours would be fairer. And most importantly...they would not have trouble in finding new teachers if they treated teachers better!

I just wrapped a year of teaching adults. Split shifts are the rule, and yes ... it really sucks. Burns a lot of instructors out easily alright. Think it's a METABOLISM thing. Like a yo-yo ... up / down / up / down ...
Had in fact a recent offer to instruct Samsung employees, based on a split-shift schedule outside Suwon, & turned it down on this issue alone. NEVER AGAIN !!!

Yep, i know this one. Lived on the 8th floor of an Oh-piss-tel for 3 days before getting my own digs. Other teachers are paying 3-4 times the cost of utilities i am. Seems you end up subsidizing everyone else ( inc. retailers & small businesses ). Think my former Director is in cahoots w/ the bldg owner. Typical Korean Crony-ISM ... eh ?!?
