Nope. Don't know it. But it sounds like the right place. I've got a sixth sense natural ability to vibe out a place from the name alone. This one sounds ... like a winner Smile The owner is a lovely ajuma called ... wait ... Kim Song Ok. She ... wait ... gives her teachers a lot of personal attention... and... has no problem with giving out advances in pay prior to the obligatory midnight run at the six week stage. I'm feeling that ...wait... she's a playful cowboy at heart. Best of luck rookies. Let me know how close I was to the facts of ... Junior English Land ... when you get there. I'll post back as the vision clears.

Was this supposed to be a legit testimonial wrapped in a humorous package, or a humorous way of saying 'I don't know'?

We should aim to get clear testimonials for the newbs. Enough confusion in this place as it is.

JEL is a franchise school for kids that seems to be doing alright although it isn't one of the big ones yet. You'll probably be supplied with textbooks and lesson plans (unless they've changed).

I have no idea about any of the individual branches, however.

How big is the school? In most cases, the bigger the less likely you are to get fucked over.

The school has 10 foreign teachers, 10 Korean English teachers and 550 students.

Is this a good size?

Yep. That's a good size.

Talk to any of the present teachers yet?

Talked to one foreign teacher and she was friendly, the most important answers she gave me on the phone were that the director was very nice and helpful, 5 teachers have renewed for 2nd and 3rd year contracts. She also emailed pictures of the accomodation which were suprisingly clean and spacious(compared to what I was expecting) and she is paid on time, everytime. (2.2 mil)

It seems too good to be TRUE??? Could she be candy-coating her answers?

She could be but that's the same thing you'd be asking yourself no matter what place you were talking with.

That's how I've always thought of it.

Don't worry, if you want to be a long-termer any job in country gives you a chance to find a better job and work your way up. If you're going to be a short-termer any bad experience will be a good story to bitch about in your old age.

That is a good way to look at it Beaver.

I just can't beleive that there is no dirt on this school as it seems every other school I have looked into has its stories of HORROR.

Oh well, maybe someone will share a story or two soon.

Not unless you come over here first and sign. You're playing with fire if you sign a contract overseas. I'd advise against it, if you can. There are a lot of people here, like myself, who came over on a tourist visa, did their job search and interviews for about a week or two, and avoided the crap and gamble of signing from abroad.
