and this will let everyone know exactly how little I know.

Now what do I do? Can I download any movie off the Internet and watch it with this program?

I downloaded it because we have some codex files missing and so the mediaplayers we had wouldn't show videos (though we did get sound).

Can we watch burned dvd's or any movies on kazza, etc, now?

Thanks for the help!

I don't anything about VideoLan but I would suggest downloading a movie you like and trying it out. Here's a link to PowerDVD 5.0. It's cracked so just open and read the .nfo files with notepad first then install.

Programz

I'm not critical of VideoLan this just seemed a good place to put this link. It's played everything I've thrown at it so far.

Video Lan will play everything with a minimum of fuss and without hogging all your system resources.

just a Girl, yeah go ahead download all the movies you like. I prefer Bit Torrent to kazaa, as there are almost no fake files or viruses. Search for Bit Tornado in Google and after installation, go to http://suprnova.org and download to your heart's content.

there is a great copy of Dodgeball on there and it's the funniest movie i've seen in ages.

Thanks a lot for the help. I'm a total noob at this, so I'm downloading my first movie ever right now.

I'll definitely check out dodgeball, the previews looked hilarious.

ps...how long does it take to download something? This pop-up thing says 143 hours. What's up with that? Confused

I'm downloading The Village and Dodgeball right now (ty wuzza).
The vallage is done in 24 hours but dodgeball says 57 hours. Dodgeball started at 144 for me too. It might take 2 or three days to dl. In other words I share your pain. Laughing Hang in there the speed will increase.
