This question was probably asked before but I will ask again.
What would you consider to be a better place to live in. Seoul or Busan. What would be better for a 22 year old guy. I am talking good schools (work), friendly people (easy going), recreational facilities, night life, definitely night life and good girls . Well, all the things a 22 year old would want and need. I know Seoul is bigger with more people and foreign businesses but Busan is second largest, its on the ocean and its kind of appealing.
I want to hear from people who have been to both cities or people who live in either one of them and who know about the life style. Please dont just give me the web address and say read here it will answer everything because it will not. I want to hear first hand from people who live there. |

Pusan isn't as crowded as Seoul, and they've got a few beaches near town. Plus, the cost of living is lower there. If I had to choose between living in Seoul or Pusan, I'd pick Pusan. Lots of foreigners who are in Korea for the long run pick Pusan over Seoul. |

after living 2 years in the seoul area i recently moved to busan. i wish i had moved down here long ago. there is just as much to do here and it is cleaner and easier to get around. plus there is the beaches and the cheaper and better food. rents are cheaper too.
i do miss ǿ (the National Centre for Korean Traditional Performing Arts) but they tell me they are opening a branch in busan in 2006. there is a gugak scene here too, but i have not really tapped into it yet. |

BUSAN has alot to offer than seoul doesnt too..
seoul is way over rated..
I have lived in both..
I love PUSAN but I cant really live there now.. cause I have been here 4 years and made my home and have all my friends here now..
but if I was a newbie coming to korea... PUSAN is a great place,,
I had the best year of my life in PUSAN.. its a great place and has a big expats scene.. and everything else you could possibly want..
unless like hoju candy said.. you into preforming arts etc...
then seoul is your place.. |

Thanks everyone for your replies. So it seems that everyone would rather live in Busan, even the Seoul people. So living conditions are better and cheaper but how about people and night life. Are people friendlier in Busan, are they easy to talk to (they dont make fuss about being a foreigner, girls especially). I kind of have an image of Busan being like Miami. Would that be an approximate comparison? |

People in Pusan seem a lot more laidback to me than the folks in Seoul. Driving in Pusan is also quite pleasant, unless you're driving anywhere near the beach in the summer. It's kind of like driving in Toronto. |

I defianntly vote for Busan.
Seoul is just too crazy.
The beaches in Busan are overrated however. |

Don't mean to sound condescending and I'm sure it'll be good when you get here but....
Its pretty obvious you have no idea what you are getting yourself into.
I would compare Busan to a dirty 2nd. world city, i still love it but imagine the dirtiest city in the U.S, and then times that by 5 and that is it
Seoul is alot more foreigner friendly in my opinion but Busan is the stuff. |

I'm looking at potential job positions in both cities. My gut tells me Busan. And I generally have good luck when I trust my gut. Question for everyone: Would you recommend flying into Seoul and taking the train to Busan, or just flying into Busan? From my research, I've noticed that flights into Seoul, Incheon cost half as much as those into Busan, Kimhae. To those of you who have made the trip, how difficult is it to travel between the two cities? I'll have a big roller bag, a backpack, and a guitar with me. Thanks in advance. |

fly into incheon then fly to busan... it is easy....
if yu really want to yu can take a train to busan. yu will save only a small amount in comparison to your flight into incheon though... |

Ok, so Miami it is not. I just had that image from the photos I have seen of the city at night and the beaches.
But still people, you havent answered my main and most important question. HOW ABOUT NIGHT LIFE AND THE GIRS. I am sure if girls are nice it would be just like Miami (at least at night ). How easy is it to talk to them and how they look upon foreigners?
Oh yeah, what are the work conditions like. Are they better than Seoul, is there enough work, how about housing?
Thanks everyone for their help |
