Hi! I'm completely new here
I was wondering if anyone has come across any contracts in Korea of less than 1 year in duration. I'm hoping to find something for 4 to 6 months but everything I see is minimum 1 full year. |

you can probably negotiate a six month contract. I've known quite a few people that have had them. Be aware though that schools tend to only offer one way airfare and no severance ifyou're on a six month-and then wave them in your face as incentive to renew for another six. |

I was on a 6 month job at my last school. Yes, it's possible, depending on the situation, but more difficult to find places that want to bother with 6 months. |

You can but its not legal AFAIK (immgration only like to give 1 year E2 visas). |

Not sure what AFAIK means, but I don't think it's illegal. Usually, immigration gives visas for a full year. You can always cancel it after six months without any problem. |

So would my best bet be to take a full year contract and break it after 6 months? Could there be any financial penalty for that (other than obviously missing out on the severance and probably the money for my return flight home)? What I mean is, can my employer fine me or anything for breaking the contract? |

There shouldn't be financial penalties, but that doesn't mean there won't be. The best thing to do is ask the school for a six month contract- with the option to renew, get a full year visa just in case. |
