I've been offered the librarian job for an international school in Kangnam. It is accredited by WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges) in the US and by the Korean Ministry of Education. The director and principals are American. All classes are conducted in English and are based on the American education style for preparing students to study in American universities.

Since it is a librarian position with only 6 or so hours of teaching per week, it is a typical 9-5 type job. I will also have an assistant librarian who is Korean and two other assistants.

salary: $31,000 US
airfare paid
$1000 relocation money
single housing
100% heath insurance
housing insurance
E-7 visa
1 month paid vacation plus all holidays, etc...

I'm kind of psyched about it because I am a reference librarian here in the US....so maybe some continuity. I'm thinking the salary is OK because it is paid in US dollars and is similar to what I make here.

Sounds good, though you might want to ask for a photo of your future apartment. Housing costs in the Kangnam area are pretty high, so chances are good that it will either be pretty small or you'll have to commute.

Party Place Nomination:
Sollung subway station
I noticed several toilet stalls equipped with western style bowl toilets and colorful illuminated signs in English and Korean notifying users which stalls were occupied and which were vacant. The entrance leading to the washroom itself was wide and spacious, with sparkling clean, shiny and bright blue pavement which I would very much like to have in my own personal bathroom. No nasty smells lingered and I thought this would be a good place to catch up on my daily reading while doing my business. A germ-free atmosphere with plenty of free, disposable toilet paper to boot!

Honestly, this is your first year in Korea, right? I really think you'd be better off with a kiddie hagwon job.
