What do you do when someone nods off and sleeps on your shoulder? If it's a woman, I don't rightly mind. But some old drunk man, ugg. This one guy to the left of me today was trying to sleep in the person's lap. Luckily he seemed to hang left and wasn't trying to drool away in my lap. Everyone that sat next to him quickly sprung up and moved. Personally I would have positioned the sharp end of my brolly in such a way as to make his attempts to snooze over an eye opening experience. (Pondering packing dung covered punji sticks for such future occasions.) |

This topic reminds me of living in Melbourne Australia and travelling home on a train during evening rush hour. There were a junkie couple, each lying (taking up) a four person seat. They were oblivious to the fact that they were taking up seats for 6 other people as they were smashed off there faces, like eyes rolled back, just completely wasted. All around them people were standing squashed together, but nobody would do anything, like asking them to move or anything. I thought about maybe having a little dabble with the old H, maybe in thailand or something, but after seing these cats i changed my mind. |

People do that all the time here. I feel sory for them generally, but if it is a big nuisance I shove them a bit to wake them up. I had one really drunk guy who standing up, or trying to. Anyway he nudged me, I nudged him, he nudged me harder, he was a human pinball. He bounced off me hit an ajuma and ended up hitting the floor hard. I did not feel bad about it.
I had little sympathy really. The guy had been a drunken annoying arse for a long time on the journey and everyone was keeping clear as it looked like he might projectile vomit at any second.
My tip is nudge them a bit, tell them they're being rude or inconsiderate(English or Korean they'll get the message), or move away if possible. Commonsense really. |

If they're not drunk, I don't really mind. I think it's kind of cute
The drunk ones...well, I'd probably just stand up and move somewhere else. |

Well, we would have....but we were drunk! I hated living in Ansan and having to spend the wee-hours in Itaewon...waiting for the subway to start up at whatever hour. As soon as we (ok, just 2 of us) hit the seats, we passed out.
I miss 1997.
