Man that guy just annoys the crap out of me.
His new song is just a rip off of Usher and every time i see him on TV he keeps singing his same song over and over and over and over!!!!!!!!!
I think i might be six. Or maybe eight.
Why did they chooose seven.
One, two,three,four,five,six,SE7en!!!!! Hate that as ell.
And what an idiot putting 7 in the middle of his name.
I'm sure he is a nice guy and all but he just looks like one big record company wank to me.
This rant is due to my listening of his new song about 25 times due to the missus.
On about annoyance level with the ajumma visor cap. |

I don't mind that song but it is an big Usher ripoff. I tried to tell that to my girlfriend and she just gave me a blank look like as if a big star like seven would resort to copying another artist
That said I think there are far less 'talented' korean entertainers out there. At least the boy can dance! |

I can't say I like his material either....
From what I gather, a lot of modern Korean tunes work like this:
Someone spends a year in a noraebang practicing Korean ballads alone until he (I'll use guys in this respect, because I'm referring to the emotional drivel that gets played out on speakers every moment in every place in Korea-Seoul at least) can sing a number of them perfectly, word for word.
Finally, when he has the nerve, he invites his friends and they are impressed with his talent. One of the kids has a daddy whose friend is involved in the recording industry.
The singer gets a complete makeover, has a hit song written for him which is rehearsed over and over.
Finally, he gets put on TV and releases a CD, becomes the protagonist of a one-season TV drama series, then sings his famous song and the same other ballads that everyone knows and loves at a number of concerts (which he learned in the noraebang), because anything creative and different would be the early end to his one-year career (before A. He comes out of the closet and faces career suicide, B. It turns out he skipped out on his military service and has to go into hiding, C. Some scandal from high school or another time is discovered, or D. He ends up singing in small time clubs just trying to earn a buck, because he is already considered old-school after 3 years)
Now, I know K-pop bashing is something that has been done repeatedly on this board, and making this familiar type of assertion is no better than what the singers do (which I mentioned above). However, having seen a million singers on TV and at live clubs, and having heard the same songs sung exactly the same way 3-4 times by different singers in one night, that is the conclusion I have come to. Am I correct? |

Rumor has it that this Se7en guy speaks English really well.
But when I was watching some music program on TV the other day (one of those ones where the lyrics are written at the bottom of the screen) part-way through his song it had:
"One Two One..
One are One...."
and I thought, hey! That's not what I've seen written before! He's supposed to be saying:
"What you want..
What I want...."
But the scary thing is that it sounds more like the "1 2 1 1 are 1" lyrics!! |

seven is a ripp off of usher no doubt..
and RAIN is also one..
Park jin young as much as I like the guy and he is talented..
he needs to stop copying american rnb and trying to sell it off as his own.,
he got snapped by sony last year for copying byounces album and giving it to his female artist..and now with RAIN.. it seems usher is being cloned
still welcome to korea!!! |

Hmm, maybe you are right, but I haven't been here that long, just over a year. I feel, however, I can qualify my remarks by saying that after 10+ years of living, working and travelling in Asia, I have never seen anything as sugar coated, puke-inducing, derivative, trite, talentless or manufactured as the TVXQ boys. Then again, Korean pop does not really stand out in the world, save for a few noteable exceptions. Then again, I don't think anyone outside of Korea will remember BOA or Hari Su after a few years. Local pop culture is still inwardly oriented and the fact that Korean films are doing well overseas does not a cultural "wave" maketh.
Cheers
