I did a runner in April because my boss was being downright verbally abusive towards me and I left a rather hefty phone bill for my school (no comments about that. Focus!). I'm thinking of returning in March or April after my original E2 runs out but I was told that if the director reported the run to whoever they report the run to, I wouldn't be able to get another working visa. My original passport runs out in january so I'll be under another passport if that makes any difference. Does anybody know what happens to runners? Can they get back and still work legally?

Canadian...I heard that when Canadians get a new passport they also get a new passport number. I think you will be fine.

Don't know if the OP is a Canuck but yes, you do get a new passport number when you renew.

Yeah, but will they also have your name on file. Why don't you just try Taiwan or Japan instead in order to prevent any foreseable risks ahead?

Running is just Konglish for quitting without giving a months notice. I don't think that's illegal here so I doubt that you'll have any problems getting a new visa. Hogwons don't control immigration. Foreign English teachers are not the biggest group of migrant workers in Korea. Half the Seoul immigration desk is for Chinese migrants. the other half is every other country in the world and visa pick ups for everybody.

So many people have run and come back to a new job within days or weeks over the four years I've posted here. Coming back when your last visa expires like I did last year isn't a problem. Lots of teachers have left big bills behind. Some just to get even or for petty reasons. They come back or just go to the next job without even leaving.

I know two examples personally where the director got people E-2'd when there were real problems. In one case the dumbass took the wrong resume to immi. The one that listed the real jobs the teacher had worked here. The other was a when the teachers degree was not quite right. You just quit a job without notice.

I wouldn't give it a second thought. If in doubt just process the visa in your own country.
