So I started downloading shows with Kazaa but now I can't burn them onto a CD. I know it can be done but do the files have to have their format changed before burning and if so, how? No laughing, we're not all technologically literate. |

winmx is best imo, it is easier to manage..
i can't understand your post.
why can't you burn them?
it has nothing to do with kazza.. what is the file type? .what?
what do you have for burning software?
do the files work on on media player?
videolan is the best program imo to watch movies.. it doesn't require any codec upgrades...
if you can watch the file on your pc and it is not a video format.. ie avi or mpg... don't try to burn it as a video file rather do it as a data file.. it'll work
or... change the extension to .avi or the like..
too many things to try without more info |

Why do you give advice when you can't read nor understand computers very well? |

You just toss a blank CD into the drive and open the drive through a directory window (double click the CD-ROM icon). Then, just copy the files you want into this window. When you're ready to write the CD, you click "Write CD". Wait a few minutes, and then you'll have a copy of all the video clips now sitting on your CD. If only making apple pie was this easy.
If you are planning on trying to create a "Video CD" format CD which can play in any DVD player, that's a little more complicated but I don't believe that is what you want based on your question. |

wylde, what does using WinMX have to do with burning CDs!? The crusade becomes silly....
The OP: Yep, as Gord says, all you needare a burning program (included in WinXP, albeit kinda lame), a blank CD and something to burn.
Your laptop does have a CD burner, right? |

Check the windows help files and read the directions or get Nero or something like it.
If you still have problems tell us exactly what point you get to. |

This seems like a good place to post a link to a site with a forum and tons of how to guides, software links etc. Some of it is specifically for newbies who don't want the techno babble.
VideoHelp.com
CD burning, DVD burning, dual layer info, format conversions, DVD player ratings, search function. A long list laid out well. |
