Does anyone have any experience with this particular issue? I've got a friend who's coming out from Japan for a few days, and he's bringing his Japanese PS2 over with him so I can play some stuff. The problem is that Korean and Japanese plugs are pretty incompatible without outside interference, and I need to get some sort of transformer, I figure.

My question is: What would I be looking for? I'm going to Yongsan this weekend to try to pick something up, but I have no idea. I figure I need a big boxy thing.

Any advice would be appreciated.

You're right -- it's a big boxy thing. I believe Koreans use the English word transformer but with a Korean pronunciation. No need to go to Yongsan because the local hardware guy will probably sell it for around 15,000 won.

The come with different amp ratings. The little ones (which aren't big and boxy) are good for small electronics like battery chargers and the like and they move up in size and weight to handle things like refrigerators.

Hold the phone. . .

Having just seen the word in another thread I think it's possible that Koreans call transformers converters. . .

I'm feeling muzzy and I could be wrong.

Well, I managed to make sure the clippers had an extension by mumbling enough crap, so I think I'll manage to get by looking for one of these. The word for it isn't nearly as important as where I can buy it.

edit: It's called a ձ, apparently.
