I've been offered teaching positions in four Cities and was looking for feedback on the good, the bad, and the ugly about living in them. I've looked at their websites but was hoping to get the inside track from fellow teachers who could provide valuable insight. Anything from nightlife, proximity to Seoul, presence of other non-Koreans, etc. The Cities are Pyeongtaek, Cheongju, Ansan, and Okcheon. Only serious posts please as I've never been to Korea and would like some real info.

Thanks a million,

Jordo

I lived in Cheong ju for a little over a year and it's not bad. There's a big, relatively frienldy foreign population there, it's around an hour and a half from Seoul by bus, and there's a ton of univerisities there, so think college town. pm me for more specifics.

Pyeongtaek is on the train line, and is also a military town. It's an army base.

That's all I know about it. If I remember right, no large stores like Lottemart, Carrefour or E-Mart (which are very nice to have in a city).
