I think you might be too late.

Everything is pretty booked up now.

Korean Air has an english language service.
1588-2001 is the number.

Just wait for all the Korean stuff and at the end it will say what number to press for English and you'll get an English speaker.

It's too late to get plane tickets. I've already tried. But that doesn't mean you can't go to Cheju for Chuseok.

I'm going, and I just booked my tickets yesterday.

Leave Seoul station at 7 a.m. on Saturday on a standing room only 5+ hour train to Mokpo. 2-1/2 hour layover in Mokpo, then catch a 5 1/2 hour ferry to Chejudo. Coming back on Wednesday catch a ferry at 7:40 a.m. There are no trains coming back to Seoul on Wednesday so you'll have to catch a bus from Mokpo, which is guaranteed to take longer than the train because of traffic jams.

On the upside, it's about half the price of a plane ticket at about 80,000 won.

I'm doing it because I REALLY want to get out of Seoul and go to Chejudo. PM me if you want more details.

why would anyone want to subject themselves to travelling in korea during chuseok? It's bad enough trying to get back into seoul on a regular sunday night.

Come on, think outside the box.

Why not consider visiting The Island of Fantasy instead?

Geoje has several great beaches, a couple of mountains to hike for great views of Japan on a clear day, the smaller island of Oedo ("way-do"; new spelling: Waedo) with its hundreds of tropical plants and gardens worthy of a visit, a pretty bamboo forest, an original art gallery full of interesting scultures shaped out of plants (one person's life work), the Korean War P.O.W. Camp, a national marine park worth a cheap ferry ride around, and perhaps the most beautiful coastal drive in all of Asia (by bus too), according to the Lonely Planet.

Just head down to Busan and ferry over. Or take a bus via Tongyeong.

Google "Geoje" and its old spelling "Koje" to find out more. (pronounced "Go-jay" with that indistinct g/k sound)

Packed busses and ferries. A crowded Jeju. Doesn't sound fun.

I like Cheju, but I've always rented a car.

Good times I've had there.
