I have a class of 14-16 year old boys... and some are ya, getting a little chubby. So my boss is Mr.Active, get healthy man... and he was lecturing the boys about how they are getting fat and need to exercise, so he phoned 5 of their parents and got them to go 50/50 with him on getting the boys passes to the fitness club in the building.

Isn't that cute? And now he goes and exercises with them after class.

I thought it was kinda cute. Smile

Personally I think that is wrong. He is there for their education not health. If I was one of the parents I would have told him to sod off. Smile

Seems like a pretty caring guy. Too much PC time and junk food and no soccer for little Gidong = fatty.

damn good idea. Perhaps the hogwons should have a camp of 'english for fatties' as a side business. I remember I used to have this horror group of fat elementary boys who I made run up and down the stairs chanting english when they are bad. Twisted Evil

I guess it's not really within his rights/responsibilities, but if he can instill a desire and the ability to stay in shape, he is giving these kids an amazing gift.

My father has struggled with weight problems for as long as I've known him, and it's agony. I'm predisposed to "fatness", and I wage a war every day. Who wouldn't want to spare their children that?

A child who is overweight is often mistreated, overlooked, and underestimated. Since we can't do much about the way society looks at these people, why not help those who suffer because of the prejudice?

Strong and healthy kids tend to grow up to be strong and healthy adults--what's not to like?

Since he called the parents and got them to go 50/50, I think it shows he really cares about the kids, in the 'Korean way'. Kinda sweet.

If I were you, I might ask that they go to the gym before class and burn off as much energy as possible. Might make for a more sedate class.

I've got to agree, that's a pretty caring boss. If I were a parent and a teacher/hogwan owner, etc, basically offered to be my kids personal trainer if I would pay half the cost of the gym membership, I'd take him up on it in a heartbeat. No way I'd be pissed at him.

I reckon its because too many fat kids bring shame on his hagwan..............all power to the guy, if its one thing the world needs its less fat people.........the parents must have been relieved more than anything, after all no-one wants a fat kid, especially not in korea........

Good for him. Some of these kids (and not just the boys) have some serious weight problms.
