so, we went to the Canadian embassy and had all the papers filled out correctly and signed and it didn't take long.

then we went to our home in Wonju and my Lady says there is no Gu office here so she took the papers to city hall and someone put stamps on the papers and she mailed two to the embassy.

now another guy at city hall says we need to translate one paper and submit it to them then they will put the info in their computer and we will be officially married. unfortunately, no one there knows what paper we need to translate and submit.

do you know?

also, how do I get an f-2 stamp in my passport?

I went through this myself a few months ago, but I can't remember which one (I'm useless!!). Can't you ask them??? I'm guessing it is the Report and Certificate of Marriage since that is the most important of the two, right?

As for the F-2 visa, you will have to go to your immigration office and let them know that you intend to change your visa. You'll have to bring your passport, alien card (unless you're on a tourist visa now), money, possibly photos and your Report and Certificate of Marriage. If you have a teaching visa now and it isn't expiring soon, you might not want to change your visa (unless you're worried about getting fired or you may want to quit soon or something) until you need to get it renewed anyway.

we have been told that the paper needs to be translated completely into korean, including my English name!

Yes, and it really isn't a big deal. Too bad you can't just go there... my husband translated the necessary document (I'm 95% sure it is the Report and certificate of Marriage -- of course it is) right in the Gu-Office by himself. It took about 10 minutes, if that. I guess the problem is that you're in Wonju so it's all more difficult. Here it was mostly a lot of running back and forth but ultimately not hard.

If you change your subject line, you might get more hits from someone who knows (or start a new thread). Something like "Getting married to Korean outside of Seoul."

Every country has different regulations and forms so it would be helpful if you could start with telling us which embassy you were dealing with.
