This topic comes up occasionally, and I wind up PMing the person(s) in question the info . . .

Since a fair number of people here seem interested, I thought I'd throw these out for starters, & let people add on/comment as they see fit:

LA SALSA (I've heard it called Casa Salsa, or just plain Salsa, as well . . .), Ap-gu-jung/Shin-sa dong
From Apgujeong station, line No. 3, exit 5, walk past the Sang-A Sports Center and turn left at the 7-Eleven.This Latin club has a flashy red interior thats split between a dance floor on one side and a bar with tables on the otherside. Quite large and wonderful wooden floor to dance on. Very neat and clean environment. It mostly plays salsa and some merengue. You can see and join Rueda de Casino every Thursday night in this club. It opens at 7 p.m. and closes at 1 a.m. Telephone: (82)-2-335-1512

MAL MAN, Ap-gu-jung/Shin-sa dong
Take a subway of orange number 3 line, get off at Apgujung station, get out through gate 5. Walk down the street, then you can see Chang-A Sports Center after McDonald's on the left. You can find 'MALMAN' behind Gwang-Lim Church. When a Latin dance beat is calling, the answer is usually Mal Man. This unique cafe thrives on music, with customers listening to or participating in Latin music. Enjoy the peppy sounds while sitting on a comfortable sofa and drinking a cocktail. Green-colored illumination creates a fresh and cool mood here. For the adventurous there are free Latin dancing classes and salsa lessons every evening from 8pm to 9pm. Beverages cost around KRW5,000. The food menu consists of such dishes as Californian Baked Chicken priced at KRW5,000 or Salsa Teriyaki for KRW15,000. Open Everyday. (Tel. +82-2-517-4203)

GACHI, Sinsa-dong
The newest and most popular salsa music club in the district boasts a spa-cious layout (including a dressing roomand practice studios), attractive decor and well-dressed patrons. Open 7 p.m.to midnight. Dance lessons available. From Apgujeong station, line No. 3, exit 5, walk about 10 minutes and turn left, just before reaching Cafe La Lee. A red sign for Gachi is on the right.(02) 540-7087

CLUB BONITA, Hong-dae
One of the largest salsa floors in Seoul; the club plays mostly salsa music, plus merengue and bachatta. No alcohol is served. From Hongik Univ. station, line No. 2,exit 1, make a right, then turn left at the main road. Bonita is across the street, under Family Mart.(02) 337-0045

MACONDO, Hong-dae
Salsa and merengue music at probably the oldest Latin-music bar in Hongdae, if not all of Seoul. The dance floor is tiny but packed on Friday and Saturday nights, and the atmosphere mellow. Wear open-toed shoes at your own risk! (tiny, sweaty place) Open from 7 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.Hongik Univ. station, line No. 2, exit 5(011) 9924-1667, www.macondo.co.kr

Here is a nice link on the Seoul~Latino history of Macondo - http://www.orsradio.com/aboutus.php

SABOR LATINO, Hong-dae
Located near by Hong-Ik Uni. St. Exit 5. SUB line NO. 2. Dancers in this bar know how to follow Cuban style as well as other styles, - quite nice dancers, too. Indeed, it also plays many of the latest Cuban salsa songs. Nice aircon system! Telephone: (82)-2-338-9221

BAHIA, Hong-dae
It is small but cozy, and crowded. Take a subway of green number 2 line, get off at Hong-Ik University station, and get out through gate 6. You can find 'Bahia' behind LG Palace.
Open Everyday.
(Tel. +82-2-335-1512)

CALIENTE, I-tae-won
One of the hot spots for salsa, merengue and bachatta lovers in Itaewon. Free salsa lessons on Thursdays from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.; ladies night is also Thursday, from 8 to 10 p.m. Across from the Hamilton Hotel; the club is on the third floor of the Nashville building.(011) 9094-8484

MOON NIGHT CLUB, I-tae-won
One of my personal favorites - this is a hit-or-miss deal; some nights it is packed; some it is a bust. A GREAT cross-section of people - teachers, expats, laid-back military, Pinoys, & Latinos of all shades. (seems to have a lot to do w/ the Pinay presence; girls there early means the place will usually pack it in). Come out the BK side of Itaewon station, and turn down/away from the Hamilton. Make your first left, like you were doing the 2-block walk up the Hill towards Polly's. 1/2 way up the first block, there is a street on the right - Moon Night is in the basement 1/2 block down on the left.

HELLO LATIN, Yeok-sam
Take a subway of green number 2 line, get off at Yeoksam station, and get out through gate 4.
Open Everyday. (Tel. +82-2-566-6162)

SOL Y SON, HUFS station
Take a subway of red number 1 line and get off Hankuk University of Foreign Studies station. Get out of the station to Hankuk Univ. of Foreign Studies. Cross the road and walk up to LG25(be aware that there are 2 LG25 there). When you are between Photo-Nara and LG25, turn left and go straight. After Todam-maul, you can find Sol y son.
(Tel. +82-2-957-5163)

***MAPS for a lot of these places can be found here :
http://cityguides.salsaweb.com/south_korea/clubs_korea.htm ; others can be found, I'm sure , using the name + Seoul in a Google image search or somesuch.

Need lessons? Here is a short web-searched list; I am SURE there are more, but here is a start:

Rueda de Casino classes
Daewon Dancesports Center
Dongdaemoon Gu, Seoul

I haven't talked to these folks in person, but I would reckon that they may know a place or 2 as well:

That is a start - will try to get some bar/restaurant stuff up when I get a spell.

Regards,

Glen
