Yeah, but he doesn't want to teach kids. I don't blame him, aren't we good for anything else? |

There are some animal shelters where you can volunteer.
There is a big, well-known one (but not so well-known that I can remember the name!) I find them to be too hysterically anti-dog-meat for my liking. But if animals are your thing, most universities with veterinary science programs have a shelter. |

Tomato, doesn't he put people in touch with orphanages?
If the OP doesn't want to volunteer dealing with children that's perfectly understandable, IMHO.
Especially if he already teaches children. |

Sorry, Son Deureo! I didn't read Noel in Korea's first sentence carefully enough.
I still have a loophole, though: he said that he doesn't want to "teach English to children." From this information alone, we don't know which factor he's trying to avoid--teaching English or teaching children.
Volunteer work in orphanages does not entail teaching English. In Hongseong, I taught a weekly recorder class. Here in Cheongju, I study Korean sign language and share with the kids what I had learned.
The kids are so hungry for adult attention that they get excited no matter what you teach them. |

No worries, Tomato, I know you're trying to be helpful.
He might be perfectly happy with playing with children. I don't know him.
The truth of the matter is that *I'm* curious about other opportunities for volunteering that don't involve children. So far the only other Koreans who are willing to accept our help aren't even human. |
