Korean classrooms most crowded
The average number of students per classroom in Korea was 35.7 for elementary schools, the largest of all surveyed OECD countries. The size for junior high was 37.1, far larger than the OECD average of 23.7.

These stats don't bode well for the future of education in Korea. I don't think it is going to improve. Japan had the second highest rate for middle and the third for elementary school. Korea was one and two. Turkey took first palce for elementary school. |

Few things would help Korea more than having all the hagwons shut down and all the teachers hired into the public schools to improve that insane student:teacher ratio. The fact that teachers have to pay a huge amount of money (or bribe public school teachers from what I've heard) to get any real student/teacher contact for their kid is ridiculous. |
