Hi, this is my 1st post so here goes:

I wanted to take the Sogang Korean program because of its conversational based learning style and I've been reading that many of you forumers studying there are enjoying it.

Because of scheduling conflicts I may not be able to go study there so I'm wondering, is there another school in Korea which has a similar style program? If there are multiple schools with the same program, which do you recommend?

I've read Ehwa being mentioned as good, but the poster left little detail/reasons about his statement.

All advice is welcome.

A little bit about my background: I've been studying Korean in Vancouver for about a year going through texts with my teacher but I find I still can't "talk" with Koreans so that is why I am interested in a mostly conversation style program. My job in Vancouver won't let me have vacation time coinciding with the semester starting dates at Sogang, so that's why I'm looking at other schools.

Sogang runs an awesome program, I don't know that anywere really comes close in terms in rapid improvement of conversation ability. It is seemingly a very non-korean approach to education, and for that reason

I doubt whether many if any other institutes offer a similar methodology.
By non-korean I mean a very relaxed learning environment where you talk to the other students more than listening the the teacher drone on.

It is fun and it works... can't see it catching on in other places

I've only met one former student from Ehwa and she didn't like it. Can't remember her exact reasons but she like Sogang much better. Sad as it is Sogang seems to be quite uniqe for the time being.

Seoul National University has a very similar program as does Yonsei University, however, I believe all 3 of them have similar schedules (maybe not??), so I'm not sure this is helpful. I really liked SNU, but found it was difficult to keep up with the Japanese and Chinese students once we got to the intermediate level.

Side question -- anyone know what happened to Sogang's �ѱ������ website? It seems to have disappeared...

It seems to move around every month or so. I tried getting to it Via a link from Sogang's University website but no luck. I'd like to find it again....anyone know where it is?

Hmm, I've actually heard that Yonsei has much more grammar than SNU, but I haven't heard all that much about Sogang (although I do like their website -- where did it go???) possibly because my teachers are Korean and somewhat elitist and probably think that only the top 2 ranked univeristies count. No need to mention the fact that the Korean Language programs are not a part of that ranking!! Anyway, I'm just going by what I've heard and how it seemed when I checked the websites. I'm no expert! Anyone who has attended various Korean Language Programs in Korea care to give their opinion?

And SNU starts out formal, but doesn't seem overly focussed on it to me... why do you say that?
