I know people always ask this and there is a sticky in the FAQs. But can you offer some suggestions? I was thinking I would like to be on the east coast somewhere, with mountains nearby, and not in a large city (but not in a small town) so I had been thinking possibly Ulsan. But now I am wondering what is the pollution/air quality like there? Can anyone there tell me what is it like? Or offer alternatives maybe?
Thanks! |

Ulsan is a very industrial city, it exists basically to serve the Hyundai factories, well it used to but basically maybe not what you are looking for.
Places on the east coast of medium size include,
Pohang(another industrial town though)
Gangnueng(site of the dano festival)
Sockcho(meant to be really nice and Sth. koreas most apparently beautiful mountain Seorakan is right behind it).
So going on your criteria Sockcho.
Be warned it is a long way from foreigner central though(which can be good or bad) but I think it would be a good place to live.
Talk to schwa as i believe he lives there. |

Kangwon province rocks. The least populated (but not if I keep recommending it?!), beautiful scenery, clean air and water, hiking, rafting, climbing (real climbing, not walking up steps with handrails), skiing, skating, fishing....really, it's got it all.
The downside (or boon, in my case), as just because (who needs to figure out how to resize an avatar ) said, is that there aren't a lot of foreigners in the smaller cities there and the job opportunities are fewer. |
