Has anyone here bought a Pocket PC here in Korea? I'm planning on getting an iPaq 4150/4155 probably next week, but I know they come with the Korean-language version of Windows Mobile 2003.
Has anyone bought one here and successfully changed the OS to English?
Thanks in advance. |

I bought one in Japan and would be interested in this info too. I didn't actually think it was possible due to the way that PPCs store info i.e. there is no BIOS as such. Maybe I'm wrong and it is possible... hope so... |

Okay, after checking this out on the internet, I've come to understand that it is POSSIBLE, but you'd have to download Win Mobile 2003 from the internet, do some file editing and sacrifice a goat in order to get it installed on your PocketPC.
However, from what I gather, since this is a version of Windows we're talking about, there is a license for it, and installing a bootleg copy is against Microsoft's software policy.
Looks like I'll be ordering my handheld from the US then. |

Don't be silly. I bought a Ipaq Pocket PC, 5100, I believe. I bouth it in TechnoMart. It is 100% ALL in ENglish! You don't need to order fom the US. They will charge you duty. It actualy crashed once on me and I had to reinstall ALL teh software. It is as easty as pie to do a clean install. You connect the pocket PC to your PC using USB and install the software from your PC. In fact, I recommend you do it, becaue the version they install in teh Pocket PC isn't the very latest version.
Here's the link, just so you know that what I'm saying is right:

I was looking for one several months ago at technomart. Now maybe they didn't understand my "English O/S?" question but I couldn't find anyone at technomart who could sell me one loaded with the English O/S. Maybe things have changed in the last few months or you're a better man than I |

I went to Youngsan a week and a half ago and asked every vendor I could find (in Korean) if they had any iPaqs with English Windows Mobile 2003 (which the 5100 has, I believe). No one did.
All is good, however. I ordered the iPaq rx3715 for $450 in the states. |
