Well, just got this one in from Myke - I know a lot of people here like world music/drums/reggae, so thought I'd throw this open:

It All Started Wit Da Drum @ Lovo In Hong-Dae Sat Sept. 25th

For all the peeps that will be with us in Seoul at the start of chu-sok we have a sweet little party planned for ya. There will be two thirty minute performances by 7 of the best drummers in Seoul. The first at 12:00 - 12:30 and the second from 2:00-2:30 u will be impressed. In between we have some wicked eclectic and reggae sounds jammin from da speakers. Because of the 25ft high ceilings the acoustics are top notch at this place.
Myke

Here is a W&P link to the invitation:

So, those that were at the An-myon party, we hope to see you again. Those that heard about it too late, or couldn't make it, we hope to see you too. We realize a lot of people have vacation plans (we do as well, but starting on Sunday, as we have 9 days off), but hope to see some of you all there . . .

Regards,

Glen

can you tell me?

is this thing during the day or during the night?

is it true that it would be impossible to get back to Suwon from Seoul after midnight?

Is that afternoon or late night? If it's afternoon, I might be able to swing up that way. Depends on what time my friend is flying in.

nope - sorry about that. Time is evening -> morning.

Hmmm - Suwon after midnight?

Not sure of your situation, but I can help you this much: traffic that night, anywhere & everywhere in Korea will be HELLISH. The best choice would be to make it an all-nighter, and catch the 5:whatever first subway run on Sunday morning.

Talked more w/ Myke - a lot of the people in attendance are on the '2nd circuit' of lesser-known clubs - djs, management, bartenders, etc. Pretty eclectic group, maybe 300 people in total.

Myke & I apparently used to travel in the same circles; old Tri-port & MWG days. He also lived in Osaka for a spell, and has good info/connections there - just a basically cool cat.

Hope this helps some.

G.

ps - We usually stay in one of the love hotels behind BK at Shin-chon station/rotary; if anyone knows a good/nice one closer to Hong-dae main gate, please drop the info here, or send me a pm (jjang yogwan, not one of the overpriced tourist hotels).

Brian - name of your place, how many do yyou have room for, and operating hours? We are thinking of a group of 10 for dinner, but no set plans yet. And we are pretty sure there will be people around late - Myke's expecting 300+/- all said & told. Might be a good 'word out' opportunity, but I don't want to see you overwhelmed, either!

PP - did we see each other/meet at An-myon? or, were you at the Nepalese dinner last week?

Big L - sorry about your plans falling through. We would hope to see you there, and hopefully with the lovely S-h in tow. FYI, El Vez & the GoD (maybe now that is WoD?) will be joining us, as well. If you all decide to attend, you can tell S-h it is a hippy-trippy / dress-to-impress shindig - she should enjoy that!

We have a group of around 10 so far, but the more, the merrier!

Regards,

G.

She can't go (Chuseok stuff), but I'll mention the notion regardless.

I will be going, and it is also my last night living in Hongdae, before I move.

Prolly head to Universalis for a bit, then over to Lovo with a friend or 2. Sounds like it will be good.

Our cafe is called Universalis, almost directly across from the Lovo place. We're on the third floor... big orange sign.

I should make clear that we are a board game cafe and we don't sell alcohol. If, however, you just want to kill some time you're free to hang out here as long as you buy some snacks or drinks.

A group of 10, however, would have to split up into two groups.

AAAAARRRGGGHHH! Evil or Very Mad

It sounds great. But I'm stranded in Asan with no dosh to buy a ticket up, even if there were any available.

*sigh* next time

(and I'll be stopping in for Root Beer too, Brian!)

Hah, it turns out I was drinking beer in the pad of one of the drummers who'll be there. That dude is wacky.

pretty sure I met a few of them the An-myon party weekend. Should be a good time; our group is growing, & we think it will be a good time.

We will probably leave An-yang area around 8; grab a yog-won behind Shin-chon rotary, and head over to that area around 9:30, stopping in at Brian's place for a few.

Regards,

G.
