Hi everyone,
I was wondering if some experienced people here could set me straight on the pension system here. I've been in Korea for 4 months and I'm not paying into it. My school is not deducting anything for it, either.
When I arrived here, I didn't even know about the pension plan; it was not mentioned in my contract, and the school has never mentioned it, but I have learned about it since i've been here, and it's my understanding that since my Hagwon has over 5 full-time employees (well over,) I should be paying into it.
To be truthful, I don't really care.....as long as it's not going to come back to haunt me. Are there any repercussions to not participating in the pension plan? I'm Canadian, and I know I would get it all refunded when I leave Korea, however, I'm really in a good situation at the moment, and don't want to rock the boat with my school over this, if it's not a serious problem. Is it? |
