|
|
Ok tomorrow I need to go to a pharmacy and see about getting some kind of antihistamine.
I've always had bad reactions to bug bites, but this is insane! Some are swelling to the size of golf balls. I am extremely uncomfortable.
Can I get benadryl in Korea or some kind of equivalent? Any help would be appreciated beyond anything thing right now.
Thanks in advance! |

They'll try to tell you that benadryl is some sort of cold treatment. They wouldn't sell it to my boyfriend when he was having a minor 'throat closing episode'
Look for the generic name to bring along with the brand name.
(Benadryl is diphenhydramine) |

| is it just localized itching from the bites, or is this a more serious reaction? my wife has been using this product called Beomulli (버물리) for her bites and it works really well. she does get fairly large bumps as well. a lot of times, if you put it on just after you've been bitten it will get rid of it in no time. |

Thanks guys
I've been using Mulpass (sorry don't have Korean installed on here) but it's doing NOTHING. It's what was recommended to me by my Korean friends.
I'm going to go get myself some of the cetirizine and the Beomulli and see if that helps. On my way now.
Thanks again. |

You might also ask for calamine lotion (카라민 로션, according to my dictionary). My son is allergic to bug bites and this seems to work best for him. |

Watch out for drowsiness with Korean antihistamine products. I always asked for non-drowsy tablets, but they still ended up knocking me for six. Those pharmacists are freaken useless.
I ended up getting some decent stuff shipped over from home. You know, that place where the pharmacists can actually differentiate their arses from their elbows. |

Alright well I got myself some Cetirizine in a product called "anti-allergics Seasonal tab." - ten tablets in a package, one a day. I also got myself the Beomulli stuff that was recommended. At first it was quite helpful, and helped a lot. It didn't last for long though, and I have to wait until tomorrow before I can take another one of these cetirizine tablets. Uggh. I can't believe the diameter of these red splotches. It's insane. I haven't been this itchy since I had the chicken pox in second grade. I'm going to run to the store and get myself some baking soda and see if I can make an appropriate paste to help me sleep tonight.
Guess I just have to chalk it up the mosquitos on this one. Korean mosquitos are NOTHING like the ones at home. These guys are ruthless. |

It's just that you have no immunity to their sting... It may build up after awhile. It's pretty common when movingto a new area to experience increased reaction. I friend of mine from France would have baseball sized bulges all over the place from the mosquitos at home. It's all about your immunity. I for one love Korea for the lack of mosquitos. At home one day I spent an hour sitting outside in a National Park. I had 65 bites between my knee and my ankle on one leg alone. I think I had about a dozen on my ankle. At my parents home, we can't sit outside at dusk. We have a stream behind our house... wonderful breading ground. Now I live on the 13th floor here and have seen ONE... count it.... ONE mosquito all year. |

Go to the doctor and get a prescription of Claritin (make sure to specify you want 30 days worth of it, otherwise you'll only get 10). |
