Im leaving in about a month. Do you think I should bring my computer to korea or is it better to sell it in the states and buy a laptop? I think the shipping would be pretty expensive to bring it, same goes with my xbox. I've read that its pretty easy to buy bootleg games with a modded xbox. Thanks |

Mods- can you guys move this to the tech forum so someone better educated on it than me can have a go?
Bringing your computer over in it's current state will be expensive and won't leave lots of room for clothes, and stuff. Laptops are overpriced, and low quality in my experience ( urgh!) What you might consider is leaving your computer there, but taking some of the more important bits ( hard drive, motherboard), out, wrapping them carefully and bringing them over, then buying the rest here.
Lots of info on stuff like that on the tech forum. |

Sorry, I was gonna post it over there but figured since it was a question then this may be the more appropriate place. I was actually thinking of selling my desktop and buying a laptop while im still here in the States. Its an easy carry on item on the plane, takes up a lot less space in an apartment and is also mobile so I could take it wherever I need to go. Im still not sure about the xbox. I've seen people selling theres on the selling forum with 200+ games on the hard drive for 200,000 won. Seems pretty cheap to me. |

to get it modded (xbox) you can get in done in song-tan for 50$ or 100$ and they throw in 8 games of your choice. Remember though that the power supply over here is 220 so you will need a step down transformer.
you can buy a cheap box and games over here almost year round from people leaving.
I spent 750,000 won on a desktop over here 2 years ago.
80 gig hd
512 ram
64 meg video card
pentium 4 or 3 I cant remember
and a 19 inch flatscreen monitor. The monitor ran me 350,000 all by itself so the computer set up only cost 400,000 won in total. |
