Try Soul Train - it's about a block or two up from the Grand Hotel. It's a bit pricey, but a nice atmosphere and a good place to start if you don't know anyone yet. There is or was also the Blue Monkey, but I don't know if it is still open or if anyone goes there anymore. The last time I was there six or so months ago it was dead dead dead.
