Yep. I'd like to find a decent boxing gym in the Bundang area. Also, where can I buy a heavy bag? Haven't seen any in the big department stores. |

You can get a bag in a dept store, but they are empty. Also, where are you going to hang it from? I suggest you order a water bag. It's expensive, but they are better for you. |

Like I said. I haven't seen any in department stores - full or empty. Can you name a few that stock them?
I've got a hook on the rear balcony ready to go. Won't be able to work around the bag, but it's really just for fun so that's ok.
Water bag? What do you think I'm a big, fat sissy? If my old trainer ever found out I was using one of those "pinko, poofo, lezzo, homo things" he'd fly over here and crack me in the jaw! |

Any Walmart or Carefour should havew one. As for a floor mounted water punching bag, hay man they are proven to do less damage on the joints and tendons and build more muscle mass and strength. |

There's a Muay Thai Gym in Suwon near Suwon Station, and a boxing gym in Namun, Suwon. I don't know if that helps, but yeah, they do exist.
I haven't been real enamoured with the level of instruction in Korean gyms.

There are several Muay Thai and Brazillian Jujitsu gyms in Seoul and throughout Korea.
Do an internet search on yahoo, google or Daum and you'll find loads.
I just did one for Kung-fu gyms on Daum and was surprised by the number of Kung-fu gyms located relatively close to my apartment.
As well as a Muay Thai gym in Seoul.

Well, by no means am I a great boxer. Great jab? yes. Great chin? yes. Great work ethic? Hell no!
Great love for booze and women? Yes.
However, I am happy in the sense that for years I said Jines was overrated and did not fight the cream of the crop. This only confirms my belief.
Not that Jones is not an alltime great. Just not near as great as many people believed. |

Hi there. How about (Gyeoktugi)? It's a Korean martial art, and is simular to muay-thai. It's usually offered at hapkido dojangs. |

oooh what's gyeoktugi? sounds like gakdugi... mmmmmm.... haha. nah really what is it? how is it similar? offered at a lot of hapkido dojangs? and more of a general question, how much do boxing/muay thai gyms run approx. per month? or per lesson? probably don't have fitness equipment or freeweights attached to it like they do in the US huh? |

There was a korean special I saw on the lesser known korean martial arts. There was one that caught my eye, I believe it had the characters "tae-guk" in it.
THe fighting style was interesting - I don't nkow if it qualifies as a "martial art" as much as it does "ritual / dance", but the motions involved hopping/dacing aroudn with thrusting kicks coming every which way.
It reminded me of a Korean Capoeira. Anyone have any more info about this? |

I think it's "taekkyon". I don't know much about it, but I think if I were to confront a kick-boxer with those gyrations, I'd be knocked on my goong-doong-i in 2 seconds. |
