Sounds like a nice idea, Toad. I'll be coming up to Seoul as well (in the same timeframe as Toad) to attend the KOTESOL conference and would be interested in meeting up with anyone planning to stick around after the conference.
This wll actually be the FIRST time ive been to Seoul (aside from passing through the airport) since LAST years conference and would up for a little throwdown during one of my rare visits to the big city...
I actually believe I will have an prior obligation to attend to for a couple of hours on saturday evening but anyother time besides that, and the conference hours, I'll be set... |

Kind of disappointed in the lack of responses...Wasn't there a "gathering" after last year's conference?
Guess people on this forum have better things do to with their time...like sit in front of the computer for hours on end and jerk off to dave's esl cafe.... |

Well I guess we just go and see who the cool people are, maybe wear dorky name tags "Hi!, I'm Matthews_world from Dave's," and then we all meet at a aforementioned location.
But seriously, just PM these guys and get contact info. Feel free to PM anyone here if you wanna meet. |

Last year Dave Sperling made spoke at the conference so many board members came to meet him and drink a few beers.
Nothing that exciting this weekend. |

well, there's a veggie dinner thing happening in Itaewon, I'd be down for drinks after. .
As for the one last year- trust me, I don't think anyone who was there wants to see a repeat of that night. . |

The veggie dinner was fun and delicious, though we were all (except energetic Pep') pretty shagged and called it an early night.
Wish I'd seen this thread before though--S4it!
Any future post-conference (or unrelated) gatherings involving laughter, dancing, and REALLY good scotch, count me in! |

Most of the people who went to last year's gathering have either left, or hate each other now. Many of the people here are hagwon jockeys and have very little interest in Kotesl related stuff. I would say the vast majority of people from this board won't be going to the conference, whenever it is. |

Anyway, I returned and I was able to get some very good information related to teaching.
The dong around SookMyung sucked but the presenters were excellent and especially the plenaries Dr. Joy Ried who spoke about learning styles and Dr. Paul Nation who talked about the do's and don'ts of vocabulary teaching.
I ended up at the Drum Festival Saturday night. Maybe I saw some of you all there. |
