I'm debating whether or not to bother with with the labor board. I'm owed money but personally I don't know of anyone who's gotten it back by going to the labor board. How about you?

I've never had to use it myself, but I've heard both types of story. Some people get action and some don't. So I think if you're owed money it's definitely worth having a go. It will depend on how water tight your case is, ei do you have physical evidence of what you are asserting etc.

i've heard all ends of the spectrum.

It depends how much of a bribe the school pays I suppose. One school i know didn't pay a bribe and the person got their money no problems, another school paid a good bribe and the person got no money(same labour board, virtually identical problems).

The labor board is good but it isn't this saviour everyone talks about, it is just another corruptable Korean instituation as well.

In saying that, i would still ring them.

It happened to 2 friends of mine this year.

Believe it or not (I bet you believe it) they did the same work (or lack there of) to a Korean friend. Just kept telling her to wait. Meanwhile, if her sister didn't loan her the money, she would have had to cancel her trip to China.

To this day, I don't know if she ever got her money.
