|
|
I play on a couple of the larger sites. When I was chatting with some of the other players during a game last nite I mentioned I was moving to Korea to teach. One of them said that some Asian countries block access to online gambling sites. Anyone know if Korean internet companies do this?
Also, a stable, fast connection is a must when playing multi table tournament poker because if you lose the connection for more than a few minutes, by the time you get back on, you may have tapped out because of compulsory blind bets. Therefore I have a dedicated T1 pipe here. Anyone know how much that would cost or is 100% uptime on cable connection reliable in Seoul?
TIA |

I haven't a clue how much a T1 would cost here...perhaps not much compared to back in the west, but I'm not sure.
I have VDSL, but I believe that's not a Seoul standard yet. Friends in Seoul are either on cable or ADSL. I'm not in Seoul. As far as reliability, I have only been without service twice, and only for short periods. Still, longer than you would want if you have money on the line, but I had more problems with Shaw in Canada, so comparatively speaking, the service here is great.
For blocking access, it wouldn't surprise me, though again I am unsure as I am not a gambler. Proxies can help, but they are not reliable for what you need, unless you go with a paid service, in which case it would probably work. I use public proxies, but having one go down on me isn't a potential loss of money as in your case. They do however, allow me to see certain sites that the Koreans have blocked for one reason or another, so the blocked thing is workable if it holds true that online gambling is a no-no. |

I haven't found any online poker sites to be blocked by my ISP. Where do you play? |

Access is fine, but Party got huffy about my change of address and cancelled my account, so now I'm on stars and UB. I'm on ADSL and its fine for multis though I wouldn't want to be playing huge stakes over it as I have been disconnected on a few occasions......... |
