I did a little search for this but didn't come up with much. I've had some piercing done in the past and I'd like to get my eyebrow done here in Korea, but I don't know how safe (i.e., clean) it is or where to go here. Does anybody have any idea of the health standards for piercing here or any good shops in Seoul? Thanks |

on the way to Kyobo in Gang-nam last weekend, we passed by a large piercing studio, with a BIG sign out on the second floor. Ear at one corner; belly button at the other. So, I guess they handle just about anything shy of the gangster-sauna-unit stuff written about elsewhere here on the board.
There is also a pretty popular/reputable one in Hong-dae area, between Sang-su station & US 66 Bar.
Regards,
G. |

There is also a piercing place on the right side on the way up hooker hill in itaewon, right beside a money changer and before the kings club street.
However, the men that work in there look strung out. |

I went with my girl friend and her friend to a piercing/jewelry shop near Ewha Women's University last year. Her friend got her belly button pierce. The shop never said a thing to her about cleaning the wound nor did they give her any after-care instructions or tips.
It became infected but with some medication and washing a couple of times a day she managed to come out of it alright.
Point is, ask the studio before you have anything done whether they have any advice on caring for your new piercing and preventing infection. As well, be sure they are using either one-use needles or at least have a functioning auto-clave, otherwise you might end up with more than just a skin infection.

I'd do it for you if I had the time. But you provide the ice cube and the needle.
Seriously, I used to do it for people at high school. It wont be infected if you boil the needle firt, and apply antiseptic to it regularly afterward. You have to be careful though, there are a couple of important nerves in that area. |
