gotta go to work , so this will have to do for now:
search google like this:
your WinOS + your firewall name + your p2p program + configure
(without the plusses)
Regards,

go into program control and set the security setting to med.
programs should ask to connect to the internet..
simple, if it is btdownloadgui.exe, check allow..
it will run then
it will tell you which programs are trying to connect to the net...
or, go into program control, then kinda top right and click the programs tab.. it will display a list of programs that are installed... scroll down to find 'btdownloadgui.exe' and right click on the cross and right click on the check... there should be 2 'btdownloadgui.exe' files listed..
same with the p2p prog.. just say it is winmx for example... scroll down til you see winmx application and right click on the cross and right click on the check....
try it and see how you go.. |

The firewall might have closed off some ports. Google it, to find out which ports you need to open back up. |

zonealarm doesn't work like that though, it runs off program access..
in zone alarm go to 'firewall' and set it to medium.. did you do that too?
i think the high setting blocks sharing
http://bittornado.com/ is another client to try... |

cant open ports in zone alarm, i have windows firewall turned off.
bittorrentguide is allowed so is ares.
but download is at most 3 (usually hovered near 80), then crashes to 0, ares doesn't even connect.upload stays at 0
everything was working great till i loaded zone alarm.
went in to network and allowed upnp, too. but still nada. |

Well, Demophobe was right. I re-installed Kazaa++ and so far, so good.
I'll keep you posted. |

it must be something to do with your za settings...
reduce the security... it sounds like it is configured to block everything
run it with basic settings and try to connect then.. you should get a popup telling you that your p2p prog, explorer, a-v and a whole host of stuff is trying to access the net and it should also give you the option of allowing it or not...
good luck |

uninstalled za
reinstalled bittornado and ares
same shyte, ares cant connect, torrents are downloading at about 5 and uploading at 0.
time to uninstalls sp2. have a feeling this is where the problem lies.
weird cause everything was running great with sp2 until i downloaded za.
all the za settings were at medium
maybe ill get a new laptop instead.
how much better is dotham? anyone know? |

rather than uninstall sp2, uninstall za and try another firewall..
get a demo version and see if it works.. if it's ok, buy it or search for a serial or crack |
