I just got a dvd player off of Daves, went home, and put in Juwon, and it won't work. Wrong region it says. I got screwed. It does play the burned DVD I was given for free. Now, how do I figure out what region the player is, and is there any way to change it so it will play Korean DVDs? It 's a Samsung. Please Help! |

You can make your player "Region free" which means that you take away the functionality of looking for the region through a firmware patch or entering Region 0 (R0). I believe this is why Beaver is asking you for your model number. Be careful about doing this and do your research first about the effects. Sometimes DVD's will be coded to NOT play on a region free player due to Region Code Enhancement (RCE), coding. This practice will become more common in the next little while.
Korea is in Region 3 (R3), try inputing the code and see if it will work then.
BTW, the free ripped DVD worked because it is probably either a in VCD, or in an AVI or other ripped file format... chances are that it's not a true DVD encoded disc. |

It's a Samsung S129, is there any place that would convert it to region free for me. |

They haven't got your exact machine, but all the Samsung's seem to work in a broadly similar way

you might have to do some fiddling since you don't know what region it's currently set to. |

An easier method is you could also just use "DVD Region Free", thats an app you run that bypasses the region code. As long as you run the app you are okay. |

well then you'll need to tap in 2, 9, 3, 3, 4 at the language screen by the look of it. |

Why not just change it to region 3 for Korea? Most players have 3 or 4 changes allowed in the settings these days don't they?
Why make a player region free before you have even expended the change times? |
