they have a nice apt, its not so much teaching, but providing an english atmosphere.

2 work options.
1)weekdays (5 days a week, 9-5 type thing)

2) weekends (4 days a week)

Umm... Just what it says really.

Anytime, especially when you get websites in Korea, or in fact anything like this, the more gloss there is the more crap it is.

OK. Example. I've used this one before so if anyone religiously reads what I post then, I'm sorry but this is a really good example.

My internet connection comes through Hanafone. The connection is fine. Great in fact. Anyhow. I recently had a problem with the bill. Because my director doesn't speak English it's easier for me to just give it a whirl myself.

So I consulted the Hanafone website. It has an English translation. The works and perks. Lovely site. Especially the bit that says about foreigners having no problems getting the internet or communicating with the company.

Yeah right I think. The more gloss- The more crap it is. So I call anyhow. Despite being told on the website with all the pretty picture and moving graphics I spent around half and hour on the phone shuttled between operators who didn't speak and English and at the end of the situation a resounding... Can't do anything. No one speak English.

Now, for those who are going to say that you should of expected that. Well I do. This is Korea and you don't expect anyone to speak English. Me especially. But when the pamphlet and the info says that someone will. Well that pisses me off to no end.

Regardless. Check out the website. After a bit of experience here it looks like a hagwon on a grand scale. The only English going on there is between the teachers who are talking about getting out. Especially that picture of the foreigner swimming with the kids.

That just screams- "Send your kid here and they can fart arse around with a foreigner all day. We've got monkeys on display."

Umm, at the risk of sounding like Gord here (no offense intended), you have no damn idea what you are talking about Peemil.

"Hagwon on a grand scale"? Care to explain how a one week camp environment equals a hogwan on a grand scale? How many hogwans offer classes in Art, Cooking or Drama?

That picture of the foreigner swimming with the kids is not from English Village on Daebudo. It's from a summer camp run by the same foundation. I've looked at that website. There isn't a single person in those pictures who is now employed on Daebudo.

You read the website? "Send your kid here". Perhaps you skipped over the part where it says that individuals cannot apply. The public schools have to apply for their students. Did you bother looking at the schedule? "Fart arse" around indeed. Did you bother trying to contact any of the teachers? No, you just decided to be an uninformed ass. Good job at that, though.

I work at English Village. I PMed the OP with some info. It's not great, it's not bad either. It has it's good points and bad. Like any job. You just have to decide for yourself whether the good outweighs the bad.

Although I will say your statement "The more gloss there is- The bigger load of crap it is" tends to be incredibly accurate.

Fair enough. I stand corrected. I'll admit that. No worries. But I said "looks like." True. That's uninformed but sometime you can only go with your gut view. My apologies.
