Just get a couple of bruskies, pull up a chair and watch the night slip by.

Had some funny stuff happen in front of the family mart and it sure is a cheap night

I love it too. It will be one of the things I miss the most when old man winter gets here. After a few hours and several trips into the store for another beverage I start to get funny looks from the employees. I think they're just jealous. Cool

I do it too, with friends. A lot cheaper than going to a bar.

It's bloody fantasic isn't it? We used to get a pizza and some beer and go sit outside.

Warm nights. Watching all the traffic go buy. Looking at the women and watching all the drunks.

me and my roomate did that couple weeks back. We sat at a table outside family mart and watched an argument amongst ajoshi's. 1 was a garbage man, another was the guy who owned the garbage can, they were arguing over what we figured was the dent in his precious garbage can.. it went on for like 15 minutes while the other garbage man (an older guy) was down the street a bit just watching it.. some pushing went on and we thoguht it would get interesting but then one guy offered the other a smoke and that was it.l. Sad only in Korea..

This thread made me dig out some great old Family Mart pics from '96 drinking at 3 a.m. with friends and taxi drivers and ripping the foil off those bottles of Cass and Nex...

We were in Jongno on Saturday and after walking around, we wanted to sit in a bar, have a drink and relax and watch the world go by.

However each bar we went to wanted us to order a freaking side dish, so we just walked out without a word.

I then hit upon the idea of just grabbing some Hite Primes from the Sun-Mart in the plaza and sit on some seats. It was a winner. 2000 won for the brewskis and it was priceless for the looks we got as my friends were studying Korean in the street while I had the Ipod on and listening to my music all while downing our beers.

Drinking at the nearby Family Mart was a tradition at the Yonsei International Dorm when I was a student there in '97.

Those were the days.

There was one in my dong, next to the phone that all the gangsters and whores used to use. There was one near Art Street, where the ajuma heard the progression of my Korean language abilities go from nothing to something. There was a good one in Bong Sun Dong near my private.

Good times, man.

You guys are my kind of people! Forget those holier-than-thou nutbags on here with their uppity "Veggie Club" shenanigans. Let's start up a reactionary "Dave's gettin' on the piss at Family Mart club". Wink

Hear hear, its always been a great pastime in Hwajong and we have had upto 30 persons at the family mart or buy the way at all hours on a saturday morning. The other thing I love is that it freaks the hell out of the locals to see so many filthy wayguks gathered in one place. I think if such a club where to be formed there would be great opportunity for announcement of the beginning and end of the outdoor drinking season and festivities to go with such. Family Mart Piss-up Club, bring it on, bring it on!

Cheers

Jaga

If they sold hummous and bean burritos every 7 paces, the way they sell beer around here, there'd be no need for us gaunt, pale vegematarians to scrabble together for someone to eat with us.

By the way, Family Mart sounds good. Can I come? I'll bring the chickpeas...

Who says I wouldn't do both? Hell- one night a friend ordered pizza to be delivered to the green mart. Count me and Kermo in. If you guys don't like the chickpeas- you could always throw them at people Razz
