I was on my way to work yesterday when I saw a group of poeple huddled around. As I approached I realized they were trying to help one of my eleven year old students, who had apparently been hit by a car. As he lay on the ground, in pain, I shouted out to him. "Billy, are you ok?" He slowly lifted his head and said, "I'm fine, thank you. And you?"

Have you noticed some of your kids come in and look like they've been hit by a cluster bomb. And you ask them "oh dear, what happened to you?" And they sort of look at you like "what are you talking about? Something is wrong with me?" "Yeah, half your hair is shaved away and you have about 39 stitches..." "Oh. Oh that. I fell off my bike, teacher."

Yeah and then if they have a tiny almost invisible pinprick on their finger they show you it and expect sympathy. Weird, isn't it?

Yeah I have one of those in my kindergarten class. She always has some little scrape or hurt that she wants to show me. It's pretty funny, she's such a little drama queen.

I was joking with the Korean teacher that I feel sorry for whatever guy ends up marrying her later in life. She's going to be a REALLY high maintance woman.

I use discretion when asking my students about their injuries. I've seen a few that clearly look like abuse, and when I ask, they don't want to talk about it.

As for the story, it's a joke. and from the sound of it, a pretty old one at that.
