Like I just mentioned, I am considering coming to "Soko" (I'm very proud to already be understanding the lingo). I want to find my own apartment cuz I don't want a room mate and I don't want my boss to know where I live. I've heard this is very difficult since you need to lay an enormous amount of money down or something like that. You need to be well connected or something. How does this all work? Is any foreigner free to rent a place? |

Expect to put down five million won as a security deposit pretty much as a minimum. You might get lucky and find something for less, but generally anything for less will be quite old. |

I just got a 12 pyong studio for 3 million won key and 360.000 per month maintenance and utility fees. But that is not common these days and it's in Pusan not Seoul where it's much more expensive... but if you are willing to put down about 40 million key- you won't have to pay rent at all. |

If you're in Seoul, you'll need at least 10 million, and that's for a piece of sh##. You're better off finding an empolyer that will provide a studio or officetel. It's much less hassle. |
