Anti-Foreign Capital Sentiment Rages
Just six years ago, foreign investors were Santa Claus but now anti-foreign capital sentiment is raging, especially in the banking market.

As it should. Control of capital markets especially the money supply and exchange rate is a concern of democratic governments elsewhere. When Hong Kong funds flooded Canada prior to the British handover, parliament raised concerns and considered limiting the influx due to an unpopular surge in property values, reduction in interest rates, etc.
There are downsides to foreign investment, especially in industries which can affect general inflation, big business and the like.

This is entirely a General Discussion topic because it's about investment in Korea. |

The Current Events Forum was created, in part, to house the many general news threads of real reality.
This forum is for "issues of living in Korea for ESLers" as you can see on the main listing of the boards.
Just like the Q&A Forum ain't for asking what our names are.
It's easy to miss the point of a forum. The mods usually do their job and inform us of the differences in PMs when we post on the wrong forum, as has happened with me. |

Korean Job Discussion Forums Forum Index
Aside from the banking industry, many Koreans in their 40s are losing their jobs, triggering social distress and income disparity.

Make it a Real Reality Forum entirely?
From its onset, it's nicely housed currents events within Korea and without. Why change that?
Face it, RR, many posters were thankful when your threads were begun to be placed over there, as some posted thie feelings at the time. Many of your threads are only of tangential interest to us as ESLers living in Korea, and overwhelming are twisted to negatively slant Korea and Koreans. |

If it's about Korea it belongs here.
And it's not your place to say what we are or are not interested in. |

No.
There are exactly 37 threads on the Current Events Forum about Korea.
They are there for a reason. Take a look.
Of course they are of interest to many of us, but, on a tangent regarding our lives. |
