I was teaching class yesterday, and this girl had a korean book on her desk. Not abnormal. What was abnormal was the English title translated and printed all over the book: Father Fuc*er!

That one through me for a loop, and I picked it up in shock. I was about to chew on my student about why she would bring a book like that to school when I realized that it was stamped with our school library stamp. She checked it out from our school library!

We also get to show movies in the last few days of each semester. One of the movies at the school library is the classic: American Beauty. I found it interesting that it has a nude scene with a pubescent high school girl preparing to have sex with her best friend's father. Keep in mind that I teach at an all-girls high school. Hmmm...

The library here seems quite a bit different than back home.

Is Samaria available in the school library?

"Samaria (Samaritan Girl)" is about two female students who have sexual encounters with adults for money, one of whose father takes revenge against their sexual male partners...."Wonjo kyoje (a man, usually middle-aged, who pays juveniles for sex)" has become one of the most prevailing types of sex-related industries in Korea.

I don't think anyone here knows that. Thanks!
