JUST CURIOUS IF THERE ARE MANY OF YOU LIVING IN THE KANGNAM AREA SPECIFICALLY NEAR DOKOK STATION AND KAEPO PARK? WANTED TO KNOW WHAT THE ACCOMODATIONS ARE LIKE IN THE AREA, NICE? SPACIOUS? OR THE SAME OL' OFFICE TEL AND ONE ROOM VILLAS?
I'VE BEEN IN THE COEX, KANGNAM STATION AREAS BUT ONLY BRIEFY, WHAT ELSE IS NEAR BY? IS IT A DECENT AREA TO LIVE, ANY HIKING TRAILS FAIRLY CLOSE BY?

Lots of foreigners in that area, and just south of the nambu ring road is a very decent place to live. There are villas and office-tels, but for the most part it's mostly high rise apts.- some nice, but some less so than others. The area is pricy! Don't take a job that doesn't provide housing.
The hills off to the south are nice for hiking; If you follow Youngdongdaero south (It's the really wide blvd that runs next to the Coex) there's a trail leading up just to the right of the tunnel. Buses 83-1 or local 6 will take you to within a block of the start.
The riverside paths along the Yangjae creek are great for biking or even roller blading and connect up with Yangjae Citizens Woods near the Costco at one end and the Han river paths at the other.
The location is great- easy access by bus or subway to downtown, Itaewon, Costco, Coex mall, baseball stadium, Technomart, apkujong-dong, KCAT, the southern express bus terminal, etc. If I came I back to Korea I wouldn't want to live anywhere else.
P.S. It's easier to read posts that aren't all in CAPS... |

I just visited Gangnam's website- it looks like they've done some revising since I last checked it out- their new slogan appears to be 'Clean Water, Clean Air, Safe city, Gangnam-gu'...

Buried amongst the hype is a lot of nifty stuff- I just discovered that my old haunt (Woluwe-St. Pierre) is a 'sister city'. |
