My extended first 1 year VISA was running out and my new employer had mucked up immigartion that the papers weren't back and I had only 2 daysleft to leave the country. Finally we got the papers for the new VISA and I had to leave on 4 hours notice.

As such, I could not plan a 1 way ticket and then another 1 way ticket and present them in advance to the pension office. Actually, I have already made my VISA run now and haven't applied yet for my refund of the first year. My plane ticket is the stub and it is round-trip, same day. Even the page on my passport that has me arriving in Japan also has me stamped as leaving for Incheon several hours later ON THE SAME PAGE. LOL.

And yet despite all this, I have read many posts about people getting their lump sum pension returned on an annual basis despite not leaving the country - some even saying they made no pretense of leaving the country.

Could anyone of you Red Tape Houdinis share your secret and let me know how to get my money now? Or if not, tell me I simply cannot given my current situation so that I can forget about it.

Thanks.

My guess is that now that you are back in the country and have done a visa run for another year, and have already used your ticket out of the country, it's too late to get your pension from last year.

Technically, you are supposed to only get it when you leave the country for good, but many have gotten it by pretending that they didn't plan to come back, and then came back anyway. In your current situation, it would be impossible for you to pretend anything since you have already done your visa run and you're back in the country with no ticket out.
