Does anyone have any observations re; six month contracts. If so let 'er rip.
I'm very interested in these now. I've done lots of one year contracts. They are;
-too long (get bored of the same place, same kids).
-it'd be nice to have a break after six months to get out of the zombie-fied state (I turn my brain off when I step in the door, and have fun).
-severance pay is always an issue, and then there's unfair dismissal to 'avoid paying severance'.
-I'm here, don't need airfare over, don't need it back

Lots of good reasons to keep it short.
So I'm wondering how do YOU feel about them.
Is there a 'six month contracts are us'?
Etcetera, etcetera Smile

They are out there and as with a couple at my current school, they negotiated a reasonable 6 month contract with half severance at its completion. It would depend on the school and what they are seeking. No harm in giving them a go. Smile

I got a six month contract so my boss could get check out how I fit in with his school system. I get a flat figure at the end of six months which is about half a one way ticket, I got the visa run paid for and will get half a month severance pay.

Of course I'm such a great teacher he now wants to extend my contract, LOL.

Maybe tell the school you think six months would be a good time to make sure you are compatible with their system and they will be happy with you. (Vice versa, but don't say that)
