Con Artists Cheat Job Seekers
Amid a deepening economic slump and high youth unemployment rate, a growing number of sideline job seekers have fallen victim to swindlers who exaggerate the working conditions and income of the jobs they offer.
The bogus employment agencies fooled people into paying high membership fees or asked them to buy expensive but poor quality learning material, all while neglecting to provide them with the promised jobs or wages.
"Those companies use very sophisticated methods to deceive job seekers. Besides, they disappear and restart their business very easily, making it impossible for victims to get a refund," said Seon Tae-hyun, an official of the board. "People who want to get work must double check all the details to see whether the job information is reliable or not."
