I love that japanese ramen that swims in the greasy pork broth, but can't find it over here- has anyone got a place they've been that does it the way it should be done?

[Anyone suggesting the Kenzo Ramen chain gets a dig in the ribs.]

Ah, I know what you mean! Koreans dont know how to make a good ramen - even the ramen you buy at a restaurant is instant!

I am not in seoul but a web search revealed there are some authentic Japanese ramen places in seoul. Bon appetit.

did anyone say the word improper, or even imply it? Sheesh- people here would start an argument if you asked them where to buy shoelaces.

Thanks for the link Shakahuchi!

Laughing Laughing Laughing so very very true!!!

Although you did imply it wasn't proper, but the fact that someone would care and post that is hilarious!!! Oh wait, the fact that I went to the work of posting this is hilarious since I don't even like ramyeon of any sort. Hilariously sad. Sad

i think that's udon...?
i thought ramen noodles were thinner...

but any place that has tonkatsu probably has udon also (udong in korea)...
just walk around shinchon or area looking at the outdoor picture menus to find what u need...

no, normal udon is totally different to the japanese style ramen I'm looking for.

I could throw a bucket of water out of my window and hit 10 places selling udon, but am looking forward to a pilgrimage to this place in Apku-Jong to get what I'm after.

Thanks to this thread I just went and had some authentic Japanese ramen. I went to the ramen-ya and sat down by the window. The day was overcast. Just as I recieved my steaming bowl of Karage ramen (fried chicken ramen with soy based soup), rain came pouring down, beating on the window next to me. What a great feeling!
