Are there any Photoshop experts out there ?

I am a newcomer to Photoshop and don't know where to look in the manual. I know I will find the section I want eventually but right now some of the termininology is confusing.

I have a photo which I would like to improve / doctor. It was taken with a digital camera, and downloaded onto my notebook computer. It is a portrait and unfortunately the subject has a few 'blemishes' on her face. How do I remove these blemishes but leave the cleansed area the same colour as the surrounding area?

I hope somone can spare a few minutes to help me. Thanks

Use the 'Clone Stamp Tool'

1. Put the tool over an area right next to the area you want to erase.
2. Press ALT + LEFT CLICK to sample the color/texture. Put the brush over the area you want to erase and LEFT CLICK. It will put the sampled area over top of what you want to erase.

NOTE: You might need to get used to playing with the size of the brush.

ANOTHER NOTE: Any unhappy results can be undone by going to EDIT on the toolbar and using the 'undo' function.

Good luck.

ctrl+z is the undo short cut (only works once)
ctrl+shift+z is undo repeatedly...

got to http://photoshopcafe.com and do some tutorials or search google for photoshop tutorial. Do some of them and you will learn loads.

Deinately the clone tool. Be sure to zoom in so your working on a micro level...

Plus, there is a lot of super cool ways you can tweek your picture to give it that extra-punch. Go under variations, levels, or brightness and cotrast. Play around. No rules. Just mess around and find out.

Wondering if anybody here would like to get together and talk about photoshop. We can share ideas and just have each of us go around and show something that you know. I'm very much an experiential learner. I'm in Seoul. Let me know if you're interested.

Really getting into PhotoImpact XL (10). They have these tutorials and can get a mentor. I'm on Level 21, but want to warn you that it's very addictive! Photoshop CS is also pretty cool. Need o check ou the Flash one sometime soon.

Cheers!

The great thing about PS is that there are many paths to the same destination. I'd also check out the "dust and scratches" filter and the healing brush for blemishes.

Forget about levels, or brightness and contrast - go straight for "curves," or even auto-color.

Fun ESL Café fact: the pic of Dave on the front page of this site is actually a composite stitched together in PS from a number of pix. And yes, he was wearing a beret in all of them.
