Another thread on here has given me an idea, but I don't want anyone to miss it.
How many of you would be game for recording some of or all of one of your classes and putting it on a site? Then other teachers could download / compare / learn new ideas, etc.
I can coordinate all of this if it ever happened.
It could be a great resource for us to improve our teaching ability and get new ideas.
Would too few people have the guts *gulp* to record their class and show it to others?
Thoughts? Comments? |

Obviously, I think peer observation is a good thing for teachers.
Those watching can learn and those being observed can learn through feedback.
This was the most important aspect of the CELTA.
However, I'm guessing most people might not be up for that.
Good idea - because if you had a copy of the tape you could use it as part of your resume when you apply for new jobs.
I applied for a few university jobs in Japan and some wanted a short video of my teaching and others asked for just an introduction. |

Been there. Done that.
Leastways I was recorded and put on the internet -- don't know that all that many people saw it. |

I would want to know exactly why they were wanting it and what they would do with it. I wouldn't want it edited too much.
Also, I would try to warn them that despite my best efforts, it would probably end up being a display of what not to do while teaching (I managed to break an OHP during my CELTA course ) |
