i don't know if anyone has posted this web link yet, but it has been exceedingly helpful to me and i think it is worth posting many times. the setup is a little counterintuitive, and you can't look up buses by bus stop name in seoul (that's the only feature i've found that doesn't work). you can, however, look up which buses stop at which subway station, and EVERY bus route in seoul is on here (except for the mini maeul buses, but if you can't figure out where those go... ) i haven't really looked at the other cities, but i don't live there, so you guys can tell me

just click on your city and voila! |

OK...it looks good, but why can't I figure out how to use it??
I know it MUST be simple....but HELP!
(The "Cyber Station" for the subway at www.smrt.co.kr is pretty cool, too) |

Not in English, but it's great if you're outside Seoul.
Gives you routes, numbers and so forth.

It's a little inconvenient, because the feature that allows you to look up buses by stop doesn't work. what i do is figure out which subway station i am starting from, click on the line and corresponding station, look to see what buses go to that station, then look up the route by bus number to see which one goes where i am going.
it's a little tedious, but by far the best site in english for bus routes that i have found... |

The SMRT "Cyber Station" map is different from the EscortMap http://www.escortmap.co.kr/subway.htm , which is different from the Lonely Planet guide to Korea Seoul Rail Network map. Cyber Station says that Line 1 is huge, whereas the other two maps say Line 1 has only 8 stops -- the rest of it is Korean National Railway. Escort Map leaves out half of line 7 that is present in the other two maps.
Which one is closest to being right?

The SMRT map. Re Line 1, the fact that some of the line is officially operated by KNR is irrelevant for the rider. Trains go all the way from one end to the other, and the fare system is the same throughout.
Plus the SMRT map shows the whole metro system, not just the "important" parts.
I must add, however, that the SMRT site is painfully over-produced. Me, I usually just do a Google Images search to find a subway map. |

Doesn't work on my Mac, even when I started up Internet Explorer for the sole purpose of looking at it. Oh well! |
