we're looking for dried fruit like you would put in a British Christmas cake. Anyone have any ideas if we can get this in Seoul.

In the LG 25 or most grocery stores you can find dried fruit. In the LG it's near the dried meat/ jerky. Chewing on some banana chips as I type this.

In traditional markets in the same stores that sell dried fish you can find figs, banana chips, raisins, walnuts, almonds, pine nuts, dried ginger, dried pineapple, etc. You'd have to cut stuff up to be the size you wanted and it wouldn't be those weird artificial colors, but... that's what i have to offer by way of info.

Most grocery stores carry dried mango, apricot, pineapple, and papaya as well as raisins and dried bananas.

Most of that stuff doesn't really go in a Christmas cake though. RAsins are easy to find at least. I'm sure you could order some other stuff from the internet.

you can also usually find green and red maraschino cherries at some supermarkets. Not dried but if you drain them slice them and pat them down they work pretty well.

allspice is the one spice I have not been able to find in Korea. Sad

Didn't know the vocab would lead us up the swanee here Rolling Eyes
No, not candied fruit and not tropical fruit. Thanks Peppermint for keeping this on track. Any idea where we could order these online?

To refine the query still further we'd like to narrow it down simply sultanas and currants. We've found raisins and walnuts and some really well hidden and past it sultanas at Namdaemun but we guess they were ex Korean war or something Wink

Cheers
