Seoul City to Select 17 Hospitals for Treatment of Foreigners
Korean hospitals charge foreign patients different fees for the same treatment due to the absence of a fixed rate for foreigners. The officials said this problem will be considered when they discuss measures to improve medical services for foreigners.

"Surveys of foreign patients here show their biggest concern at Korean clinics is language. Because of the language barrier, they have difficulty using medical facilities and they are unable to get sufficient explanations from doctors about their disease and treatment procedures," a source said on condition of anonymity.

Seoul National University Hospital, Soonchunhyang University Hospital, Severance Hospital, Samsung Medical Center and Asan Medical Center are currently providing their own medical services for foreigners.

Foreigners Experience Difficulties in Living in Korea
"A few days ago, the medical bill was over 100 thousand won for a simple treatment for a cold at a hospital. Koreans didn't seem to pay that much and I wonder whether hospitals charge high prices because I am a foreigner."

100,000. ???? The hospital had to make a mistake. Whenever I see a doctor, even after tests and prescripts. it is so cheep I wonder why they even take time to charge anything at all. Medical care is almost free, and drugs a small fraction of the cost they are in the usa.

For example. A month supply of my fibromyalgia medication costs.

1. In USA 500$

2. If online (not that I trust that system, but checked prices for educational puropses) 200-300 $

3. In korea 6$

.
